Dear Alumni and Friends,
As the I-House community prepares to enjoy the vernal equinox and the beginning of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere this Sunday - and our residents look forward to Spring Recess next week - we’ve enjoyed a renewed calendar of events here in the House. This week we’ve had a Spanish Coffee Hour, a Saint Patrick’s Scavenger Hunt, and music once again filling the Great Hall.
In this issue of the I-House Connection, I’m delighted to announce the public opening of edmonds café at I-House after months of restoration! We honor the memory of Harry and Florence Edmonds, founders of the I-House movement, as we confer their name on one of I-House’s most cherished features. Please come by and enjoy the restored café with us!
I’d also personally like to convey my thanks to all of you who participated in this year’s “Big Give” fundraising event.
I’m pleased to share an invitation to another virtual event hosted by I-House New York. In celebration of Women’s History Month, I-House New York welcomes author Kati Marton for an insightful discussion on her recent book The Chancellor: The Remarkable Odyssey of Angela Merkel.
In these disturbing times, if you are looking for ways to donate to Ukrainian relief causes, a vetted list of organizations has been put together by the Institute of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies which can be found here, https://iseees.berkeley.edu/. The list includes organizations providing direct emergency relief efforts in Ukraine and surrounding areas.
Sincerely,
Shaun R. Carver
