October 2022 I-House Connection
October 20, 2022

Dear Alumni and Friends,

In this issue of the I-House Connection, on behalf of Roxanne Pifer, Director of Admissions and Housing Operations, I’m pleased to invite you to spread the word that our Spring Housing and Scholarship Applications are now open!

In the last issue, we featured our new cohort of Resident Assistants, and we are now excited to welcome a new cohort of Program Assistants.

For those in the New York area next week, you may wish to join Carol T. Christ, UC Berkeley Chancellor, and Margie Ryan, I-House Assistant Director of Philanthropy at Discover Cal New York on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, for a reception, lecture, and discussion.

Also in this issue, I-House bids farewell and congratulations to Tim Lynch after 22 years as a career staff member at International House.

Finally, I’d like to invite you to join and participate in our vibrant community of alumni and residents on I-House Berkeley Connect if you haven’t done so already.

Sincerely,

Shaun Carver, I-House Executive Director

Farewell and Thanks to Tim Lynch!

By Cristina Rudden, Catering and Events Manager

As you may have already heard, after 22 as a career staff member at International House, Tim Lynch has accepted a new position as General Manager of the campus radio station, KALX. As part of his new role, Tim will also serve as part of the leadership team for Academic Technology in the campus’ Research, Teaching, and Learning (RTL) division. This is a great opportunity for him, but he will be sorely missed.

Tim started as a student AV tech and then became a full-time career staff member in November 2000. Besides managing events in our public rooms, Tim has had his hands in many aspects of I-House operations over the years. From participating in the building Emergency Planning committee and serving as the building Safety Coordinator, to overseeing all internal and external AV/production services (including shooting and editing videos for our Communications team), keeping our audio-visual equipment and capabilities current, managing countless numbers of student workers over the years, and more, Tim has worn many hats in this building.

Cristina Rudden presented Tim with heartfelt farewell wishes from I-House staff
